Sejourne Bernard
Séjourné was a painter and a sculptor. He was the best known artists of the school of art known as the "School of Beauty" which honors woman. In his works he attempted to capture beauty, elegance and grace. His themes were women, landscapes and flowers. Most of his paintings are large and on board. This heightens the effect of movement which he created by his use of fluid lines. His colors range from cool to tropical and many of his works are acrylic on masonite.
Several American Museums namely the Brooklyn Museum exhibited his works. The famous Baron de Rothschild acquired an impressive collection of his art works and used one from his collection for his wine labels.
His works have always been highly valued by Haitian art collectors. Since his recent death, he has become one of the highly sought after collectibles. Today his art works are in permanent exhibit at all the Nader’s art Galleries and Musée d’Art Nader in Haiti.
