Mosanto Frantz
Frantz Mosanto was born in November of 1962 in Jacmel, Haiti.. He came to Port-au-Prince when he was twelve and started drawing and sculpting.
At 18, Mosanto started to paint on canvas. He was very affected by the devastation of the landscape of his country. He dreamed of a new Haiti where people would stop cutting the trees and start planting them. His paintings of very green mountains with very high trees and clear running rivers are his dreams for the revitalized Haiti.
In his book entitled “ Peintres Haitiens” the author and art critic, Gérald Alexis said ” a landscape artist, Mosanto takes considerable pains in depicting details and perspectives”
He has participated in many exhibitions in Haiti, France, United States, and Japan. His art works are in permanent display at the Nader’s art Galleries both in Haiti and Coral Gables, Florida.
